Robbie's Birthday part II
When we last saw our young lad, he had just turned 10. He had a quiet family party with lovely gifts. But Wait! What about Poppop? What about Auntie Lynne? So, Robbie grudginly agreed to a second birthday party...okay, he whooped with excitement and asked if 1) there would be more presents and 2) would he get more cake? That's yes to one, and no to two. It was also Father's Day, so we made Pop his favorite, Lemon Meringue Pie. I'll tell you, it was a delicious pie and I'll post the url for it at the end of this post. Now, I had to go to church, as the choir was singing, so Lee and the boys decorated up the back porch and we enjoyed a great family barbeque under scorching blue skies, with our first hot hot hot day since last September.
Then we got to the good stuff...PRESENTS!
First Robbie opened the all important gift of....sox...no, not the Red Sox kind, but, the Nike kind. Nonetheless, Robbie was thrilled...he's rather a sock fanatic, and to have a dozen Nike socks has excited him so much that I nearly had to pry them off with a crowbar last night! Then came the real Sox item...a David Ortiz Red Sox jersey....and I don't think he's stopped wearing it, except at bedtime, nor smiling, since he opened it...
Then Poppop pulled out wonderful surprise number two. Robbie has become an avid birder, and we have been sharing binoculars that Pop gave me a few years ago...and now Robbie will have a special pair of his own...and he was thrilled. He has used them several times, from seeing turkey vultures Monday afternoon, to watching the chipmunk steal birdseed from the feeder. What a fun gift this will be!!

Uncle Bri and Millie sent a supply of airplanes, foam 747, which crash landed into the rhodedendron and lost a wing, then hit a maple and broke in half, and two balsa wood planes, which are still flying safely around the backyard. One is arm propelled, the other is rubber band propelled, and amazingly they can both cover about the same amount of distance, although the prop plane flies a bit straighter!
All in all it was a wonderful Family day, full of love and laughter and happiness!
